Un-neutered Males-
In order to keep our Campgrounds as safe and sanitary as possible, we require all male Campers over 6 mths to be neutered. Though territory marking is completely normal for any dog, Un-neutered males are much more assertive and prone to marking than neutered ones.
Being that your dog still has his testicles intact, he has natural biological needs. If your dog doesn't fulfill those needs, then he will build up frustration, anxiety, and may even develop obsessive tendencies that can lead to aggression; and for that reason ALONE this policy is in place.
Unspayed Females-
Female Campers over 6 mths, need to be spayed. You can spay a female as soon as eight weeks and preferably before her first heat for the best health benefits. The first heat cycle occurs somewhere around six months of age, depending on the breed.
Aggressive Behavior –
This is not about breed, it’s about BEHAVIOR. We are more than happy to conduct a meet and greet with your dog to determine whether or not we are the right fit for boarding. Every Camper is accepted on a case-by-case basis, aggressive or not. Often time’s aggression has more to do with the owner’s behavior and/or lifestyle rather than the dogs true nature.
Lack of Exercise can also be a reason for Aggression. When dogs, especially large, powerful breeds, don’t get the exercise they need, they can become frustrated and unbalanced.
Unreasonable Owners –
Our Campers get up to 12 hrs of play time a day. Imagine a child enjoying recess for twelve hours on a playground; it would be a miracle if they were returned to you without the slightest scratch. SAME HERE. We take the health and safety of our Campers seriously and it is policy to keep Moms and Dads informed throughout the stay. If you consider yourself to be a reasonable owner who understands that their dog(s) are, in fact, animals that wrestle for fun, Campground Kennels welcomes you!
If you prefer your Camper stay indoors and enjoy more human interaction, I’m happy to give complementary massages and kisses any time I can.
